Jelena Cvjetkovic explains why these Parisian views are perfection personified.

If the ‘City of Light’ could be distilled into one property, for me it would be this one. Located on the Ile Saint Louis on the fourth floor of a 19-century building, and priced at €3.975m, this three-bedroom apartment is full of light, which floods in through the tall, elegant, south-facing windows.

And those views! I am a city dweller by process of elimination, having tried smaller towns and country living in both Croatia and Tuscany; I love the complexity, excitement and endless capacity to surprise that big cities have. What do I miss the most, living in London? No, it is not the weather. It is views – sunsets on the Adriatic open sea of my home town, the rolling hills of Tuscany where I spent many years. A view over the Victorian terrace opposite my home just doesn’t make it…

This is why I love the view from this apartment: the twinkling river below, the tree-lined quai opposite, the architecture, people sunbathing along the river. An island within a bustling metropolis – city living doesn’t get much better than this.
