Septembre 2020 / Haussmann’s new life
Baron Haussmann’s imprint is omnipresent in Paris. It is his style that shaped
our capital and gave it its architectural homogeneity.
If he woke up tomorrow, in the early morning, and wandered along Boulevard Saint-Germain, or Boulevard of Courcelles he would hardly be surprised, the visual reading of the city would be almost intact.
But nevertheless, its heritage has been shaken, transformed, to adapt our floors, mouldings, fireplaces to today’s lifestyles.
A silent revolution is played out behind the ashlar facades, so as not to give in
to conformism. Reinvented plans, revisited codes, the multiple constraints of the apartment Haussmann’s works serve as a springboard for the talent of new interior designers and decorators.
Their innovative and delicate mission: to take on the most beautiful part of the heritage, while anchoring these living spaces in the spirit and functionality of the 21st century.
Or how to live with the best of each era!
